As a result, you will return home not only with renewed mental and emotional energy but also a motivating action plan. Gael has been working in a silmilar way in Spain for several years and has received many testimonials that prove that this kind of experience can be life-changing.

You could use this special time-out to:

  • make a difficult decision or solve a moral dilemma
  • break a long-term sabotaging habit such as procrastination, eating too much or pulling out of relationships as soon as the ‘honeymoon period’ finishes
  • learn how to use Gael's Emotional Healing Strategy to heal from a hurt such as a rejection or loss
  • become more assertive at work or at home
  • change an aspect of your parenting behaviour
  • look at how to manage a difficult transition or health issue
  • improve a relationship
  • have a general confidence boost to enable you do anything that you are holding back from doing!

In between your sessions and self-help assignments, you can re-energise or relax your body on Rota’s beautiful beaches and doing this will enable you to think more creatively and clearly. This means you will have both the physical benefits of an activity holdiay plus the psychological ones of a retreat.

The location

Rota is a small historic town on the Costa de la Luz in southern Spain. It is situated in the Bay of Cadiz and is surrounded by 16km of beautiful sandy beaches.  Because of its temperate climate (ranging from average of 15 – 35º) and its invigorating Atlantic sea air, it attracts many tourists (mostly from within Spain) in July and August.  Out of this high season it functions as a typical lively Andalusian small town. It has a strong sense of community and life-balance is taken very seriously. So soemtimes you will find yourself in the midst one of its many traditional festivals.

Accommodation and food

You can stay in a B &B or a hotel. All are very close to the beach and beautiful coastal walks through pine forests. Our recommended B & B's start at 38 euros per night. Hotels range from 60 to 200 euros per night. Rota has many excellent and very reasonably priced restaurants and small tapas bars. The fish is particularly fresh and superb as fishing is one of the town’s principle industries.

How to get to Rota

Rota is 30 minutes from Jerez and 70 minutes from Seville airports which both have low-cost flights to and from London. Alternative airports are Malaga (2 hours 30 mins drive) and Madrid (3-4 hours by train or car). There are also daily flights to and from other European cities to Jerez and Seville as well as several major towns within Spain. Depending on the time of your arrival, you can travel from the airport by taxi or by bus. Alternatively car hire is cheap and the drive to Rota is a straightforward 30 minute drive. Please contact us if you would like more advice on travel.

Cost and availability

Gael is unable to organise any group courses at the moment but she can offer a series of 5 individual consultations during the times when she is in Spain at a considerably reduced rate on her normal fees in London.
